Our posters are made from sustainably-sourced bamboo paper to keep trees in the ground where they belong. But we wanted to go a step further.
So, for every poster sold, we grow a tree through WeForest, our long-term partner based in Zambia, Africa.
Trees, is there anything they can’t do?
Each year around 15 billion trees are cut down. Globally, the number of trees has dropped by roughly 46% since the beginning of human civilization.
This is terrible because trees are an important ally in our fight against climate change. They cool our cities and clean our air, removing planet-warming CO2. They also clean our water, prevent flooding, provide homes for wildlife, and even help prevent crime!
Seriously, is there anything they can’t do?
We’ve been partnered with WeForest for a number of years and continue to admire their work. They work with hundreds of small-scale farmers in the Luanshya District of the Zambian Copperbelt.
They provide the farmers with training and tools to diversify their sources of income while they grow and protect local forests. As a result, they receive a higher income, diversify their economic activities, and learn new skills.
The project also links the farmers to local private-sector companies to ensure their produce gets sold. This way, the project becomes more sustainable, making the beneficiaries less dependent on WeForest’s contributions.
Our aim is to grow 50,000 trees and we’ve come pretty far so far!
