The First Climate Positive Mobile Case

The world's first fully circular mobile case

02 Jun 2023

Are you tired of the same old phone cases that do nothing but contaminate our planet and end up in landfills? Well, let's introduce the groundbreaking innovation that will change the way you think about phone cases: the world's first fully circular mobile case.

We've cracked the code to create a mobile case that doesn't just protect your phone, but also gives Mother Earth a big, warm hug. Our mobile phone case is made from a blend of bio-based materials such as hemp, flax, cellulose, and PLA plus biodegradable PBAT. Most importantly, it's made to be remade. Which means we can take it back and use it to make a new case, greatly reducing the need to use new material.

The benefits of a circular phone case

Circular phone cases offer several benefits:

Firstly, our phone cases are eco-friendly

We predominantly use renewable resources, minimising the environmental impact associated with traditional plastic case production. And the one material we use which isn't from a renewable source (bio PBAT) is biodegradable.

Our phone cases are biodegradable

Our phone cases contain natural materials, combined with bio PBAT, which means they are biodegradable under the right conditions, breaking down naturally over time without leaving behind harmful microplastics or contributing to pollution in ecosystems.

Hemp, PLA, cellulose and flax are renewable resources

As mentioned above, our phone cases are crafted with a blend of renewable sources, including hemp, PLA, cellulose and flax/linseed. These materials are derived from sustainable sources and can be grown and harvested repeatedly, ensuring a steady and eco-friendly supply for our manufacturing process. Hemp, for example, grows quickly and abundantly, much like bamboo. PLA, made from corn starch or sugar cane, serves as a natural alternative to petroleum-based plastics. Cellulose, sourced from forestry residues, contributes to the durability of our cases.

Additionally we use PBAT, the one material we use which isn't from a renewable source.  It is a highly biodegradable polymer that completely decomposes without leaving any toxic residue. This makes it an excellent alternative to toxic or harmful materials such as traditional non biodegradable plastics. When PBAT is added to compost, its decomposition rate is significantly faster than plastic. It takes approximately 60-120 days for PBAT to decompose in an ideal composting environment, while plastic takes over 400 years!

Toxic-free mobile cases

Our phone cases are free from toxic chemicals, such as those found in certain types of plastic. This means they do not release harmful substances into the environment or pose health risks to humans. They've been independently tested and meet REACH, RoHS and California Prop65 standards.

The environmental impact

As the name suggests, the world's first fully circular phone case sets a new standard in recycling, contributing to a sustainable future. Once used, they can be decomposed via industrial composting, but have been designed from the start to be recycled.  As we like to say, they're made to be re-made. Simply return to us using our agood loop™ program and we'll recycle your old case into a new one.

The mobile case is manufactured in Sweden, a country known for its commitment to sustainability and innovation. Manufacturing it locally has several benefits - it ensures high-quality production standards while minimising the carbon footprint associated with transportation, as the cases do not have to travel long distances to reach you.

Stone Paper Box

We're not just committed to making a sustainable mobile case; we also care about how it's packaged. That's why we've put a lot of thought into using an FSC-certified recycled cardboard box, which is a fantastic eco-friendly alternative to traditional paper or plastic packaging. So, why choose recycled cardboard? Well, it's made from post-consumer recycled materials, which helps to reduce waste and lessen the demand for new resources.

Creating the world's first fully circular mobile case wasn't a walk in the park. It took an entire year of hard work from our dedicated team of innovators and sustainability enthusiasts to bring this product to market. This lengthy development process shows just how much attention to detail, research, and testing went into making this truly groundbreaking and sustainable solution. We didn't rush it because we wanted to get it right, and that's why we're proud to have spent so much time perfecting our creation.

As technology continues to advance, we recognise the importance of responsible disposal. We've put careful thought into the life cycle of our mobile cases, considering every step along the way. Our phone cases are biodegradable under industrial composting conditions, offering an eco-friendly solution for those unable to return products for recycling. Alternatively, they can be recycled, further closing the loop in the manufacturing process and reducing waste.

All our phone cases can be easily recycled. So if, for any reason, you want to replace your phone case, send it back to us, and we will re-use it in future manufacturing. Through our innovative recycling program, agood loop™, we encourage customers to return their used cases, which we transform into brand new ones. This circular approach not only reduces waste but also rewards you with a discount on your next purchase. It's a simple yet impactful way to contribute to the circular economy and protect our planet.

Through recycling, we believe in giving our cases a second chance at life. We encourage you to make a conscious choice when it's time to part ways with your case.

But our mission doesn't stop there. We believe in the power of education to transform lives and create a brighter future for all. That's why a share of the profit from each climate-positive phone case goes directly to support the Malala Fund. This incredible organisation works tirelessly to ensure every girl has access to quality education. By supporting the Malala Fund through our phone cases, we are taking a stand and actively working towards a more inclusive society.

Final thoughts

Have you ever experienced the heart-stopping moment when your phone slips from your grasp and crashes to the ground? It's a common mishap that many of us can relate to. But did you know that nearly half of the phones that suffer such unfortunate accidents end up as electronic waste? That's right – they are left broken and forgotten, contributing to the growing environmental burden.

But there's a simple and eco-friendly solution within reach: protect your phone with a sustainable mobile case and your phone won't become another statistic in the ever-growing mountain of e-waste. Let's break the cycle of e-waste and show nature the love and respect it deserves. And to protect your screen even more, consider pairing it with an eco-friendly screen protector and enjoy all the benefits tempered glass screen protector offers.
