Our electric toothbrush heads, and corn-based dental floss are designed to put a smile on your face and the planet’s (if it had one). Unfortunately, not everyone in the world has access to the essential dental products many of us take for granted. That’s why we’ve partnered with the charity Global First Responder to provide dental products to those in need. So far, we’ve donated 1,500 toothbrushes to the Talibés people in Senegal, who wouldn’t otherwise have access to oral healthcare. Imagining a world where everyone can smile wide Globally, an estimated 2.4 billion people have little or no access to oral treatment or care, mainly in low and middle-income communities. It’s also estimated that 2 billion adults suffer caries of their permant teeth, and 520 million children suffer caries of their primary teeth. Poor oral health impacts people’s ability to work and study, hindering their development and deepening social inequalities. As well as a lack of access to products and services, there’s often a lack of education about the importance of maintaining oral hygiene. We don’t know about you but we’d like to live in a world where everyone can smile wide, which is why we’re partnering with Global First Responder. Why Global First Responder? Global First Responder’s mission is to improve healthcare delivery, health education, and improvements in community infrastructure in disadvantaged communities. It was founded by Dr. Adam Beckett, who organizes teams of volunteers to undertake vital medical work in communities that need it most. They treat people, hand out medicines and products, and, importantly, provide health education to all patients. Since it was founded in 2010, Global First Responder has worked in over 20 countries in some of the toughest conditions imaginable. We’re happy we can play a part in helping them make the world a healthier place.
