What does Green November mean to us?

Let’s start by taking a look at what November shopping means for most brands, and an awful lot of shoppers.

Black Friday is a period dedicated to overconsumption and increasing mindless consumption. Another year has gone by, and not much has changed, despite the cost of living crisis more and more people around the world face.

Businesses take advantage of Black Friday, they lure customers in with exceptionally low deals and force consumers to buy as much as they can on this one day.

It has become a scary concept that customers are physically fighting over products, is it Black Friday or a zombie apocalypse?

This isn’t attacking those families who aren’t as fortunate as others and rely on these deals to be able to get essential kitchen supplies. Nor if you have been eyeing up an item that’s been out of your price range, sure get it.

These are both conscious decisions. This message is for those who see Black Friday as a day or month to buy as much stuff as they can just because of the low price, not because this item is a necessity for them.  And we know a lot of those products are going to be returned, unwanted and in part destined for landfill.

Instead, we see Green November as a chance to talk about social and environmental causes.

Taking a little time to tell you about green initiatives such as agood loop and explaining more about the causes we support through agood foundation.  And we also see it as a chance to contribute.

Why not take the increase in traffic and use that to give back even more?

Join us for Green November, turning Black Friday Green!

So, with Green November we want to award you for making a more conscious decision. No need to wake up early. No need to make a quick decision that you might regret later.

You have an entire month to consider whether something we sell is something you want. If not, that’s fine. If so, then we think we have an offer you’re going to like.

Through agood foundation, we already contribute to a number of charity partners.  Every time you buy a product, we donate to a specific charity.

Here’s how it works:

If you buy a good phone case, we will donate a share of the sale to Malala Fund, so that we can help protect girls through education. Our goal is to provide education for 10,000 girls.

If you buy a stone paper notebook, a bottle or a pen we will work directly with charity: water to provide up to 500 litres of clean, safe water with every sale.

If you take up a toilet paper subscription, we’ll provide a period poverty kit in partnership with DaysforGirls.

If you buy one of our posters, we’ll plant a tree via Weforest.

If you buy a dental product, we’ll donate a toothbrush to Globalfirstresponders to support their humanitarian efforts in 3rd world countries.

And if you buy one of our new clothing items, we’ll donate an emergency food kit to a child in need, thanks to our partner, Save the Children.

But we can do better.

Throughout November, we’re doubling our donations.

That 500 litres to charity: water? It just became 1,000!  Buying a phone case?  Now 7.5% of sales will be donated to Malala Fund.
