The Fashion Line Helping To Save The Children

27 Feb 2023

Climate change is a pressing global issue, and its impacts touch the lives of every person on our planet. Unfortunately, some of the most vulnerable to these consequences are children. Currently, around 710 million children live in countries that are experiencing the harshest effects of the climate crisis, such as extreme weather events, food and water scarcity, and health risks. However, it's crucial to recognize that climate change is not a problem that discriminates; it will ultimately affect every child on Earth. This underscores the critical need for collective action to address and mitigate these challenges, creating a sustainable and secure future for all the world's children.

We’re often told that fighting climate change is an impossible task. Too big and difficult for us to conquer.

It’s impossible only if we refuse to attempt it.

Circular Clothing Line Helping Children Around The Globe

Our clothing line was born from a deep commitment to people and the planet. We set out to create clothing that contributes positively to the world.

Organic cotton shirts and tops

Our circular shirts and tops are crafted from a special blend - 80% organic cotton and 20% recycled cotton. This choice reflects our understanding of the environmental damage caused by conventional cotton production. Did you know that 99% of the world's cotton is grown using unsustainable methods? It takes a whopping 10,000 liters of water to produce just one kilogram of cotton.

Our circular program: agood loop

Our circular fashion line leads the charge against the harmful effects of fast fashion. When it's time for a wardrobe change, simply return your items to us. We'll work our magic through our agood loop™ program, transforming them into new pieces. This creates a cycle that continually boosts the use of recycled materials in our clothing.

Sustainable underwear

Our underwear is primarily made from Lyocell, 95% to be exact (the remaining 5% is Elastane, necessary for that comfy stretch). Sourced from wood chippings in well-managed forests, the TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers we use have won the European Award for the Environment from the European Commission, specifically in the category of "The Technology Award for Sustainable Development."

Bamboo socks

Now, our socks are pretty cool too, composed of 76% bamboo. Bamboo brings a slew of benefits to the table - it's naturally antibacterial, excellent at absorbing sweat, and hypoallergenic. There are different types of bamboo, and bamboo is one of the most sustainable materials as it is the world's fastest-growing plant and can be harvested repeatedly, making it incredibly sustainable. It uses much less water, soaks up more CO2, and pumps out more oxygen than regular trees. It's self-regenerating and doesn't need fertilizers. Plus, bamboo has insulation properties, keeping you cozy in winter and cool in summer. These socks also contain 17% recycled cotton, 4% spandex, and 3% polyester.

Save the Children: Every Child Deserves a Future

Every child, regardless of their circumstances, deserves a fair shot at life. Yet, around the world, millions of children face incredible hardships simply because of where they were born.

Save the Children was founded over 100 years ago by Eglantyne Jebb who, when told her goal of ending child suffering was impossible, replied with “it’s only impossible if we refuse to attempt it.”

She grew the charity from humble origins in London and now their work spans the globe, giving hundred of millions of children access to food, water, shelter, healthcare, and education. They also recognize the threat posed to children by climate change and carry out research on the impact on children that they use to help minimize shocks and prevent them before they happen.

In 2021 alone they supported over 183 million children and we’re honored to be able to play our part!

Final Words: Empowering Change

In the face of a changing climate, it's our children who are most vulnerable to its far-reaching impacts. With approximately 710 million children living in regions heavily affected by the consequences of climate change, there's a pressing need for collective action to secure a sustainable and safe future for all. Our circular clothing line is a part of that action, offering a chance to make a difference.

Our Circular Clothing Line and the Future of Children

By choosing organic cotton for our shirts and tops, we're taking a stand against the environmental harm caused by conventional cotton production. With 99% of the world's cotton grown through unsustainable methods, it's high time for change. Our circular program, agood loop™, aims to disrupt the fast fashion industry by transforming used items into new pieces, making recycled materials a consistent feature in our clothing. Our sustainable underwear, primarily made from Lyocell, ensures comfort and sustainability while bamboo socks, a blend of sustainability and functionality, round out our lineup.

And in a partnership with Save the Children, we're contributing to a brighter future for children worldwide. Their century-old mission, driven by values of accountability, ambition, collaboration, creativity, and integrity, has reached over 183 million children in 2021 alone, providing vital support, education, and hope. In this world-changing endeavor, we're honored to play our part and to believe, like Eglantyne Jebb did over a century ago, that nothing is impossible if we refuse to accept it as such. Together, we can make a real difference and build a better world for all children.
