“We all have to try to take steps so that our kids can enjoy life as much as we did when we were younger.”

A Good Community meets with multi-talent David "D-Flex" Seisay, interviewed by Anders Ankarlid at David's own gym in Stockholm, before the COVID-19 outbreak and social distancing.

From an international background living in both New York and Sweden, David has become one of Scandinavia's most famous personal trainers – and enthusiastic vegetarian.

His career started early on as an artist and songwriter, going on to virtually *bring* personal training to Sweden and further on to become an author as well as a health and training expert.

“As kids we were used to seeing loads of different types of people, and that has really helped me in life, having friends from different ethnic backgrounds.”

David shares his fascinating background growing up in New Rochelle, New York, where his father worked as a diplomat.

Watch the full interview here (and don't forget you can watch it with subtitles in English, just click "CC")!

“My father was a diplomat from Sierra Leone, a little country on the West coast of Africa. My parents met in Stockholm and then because the hospital facilities were a lot safer and better here, both me and my brother were born in Helsingborg. Then we would go back to Freetown, which is the capital of Sierra Leone.”

“It was great to grow up in New Rochelle (New York), a really awesome community to grow up with. Primarily because it was very mixed. There were many different races that lived together and went to school together and built friendships and relationships together.”

“I think now you live and you learn and it’s really important that everyone in their own way can find a way to help save our planet.”
